Not false advertising so to speak, just wish they took anything from the direction/tone/style of the OP as inspiration for what the anime could be like. However, going from the opening sequence to the actual show is kind of similar to watching a cool mobile game ad and then. No, it truly is, that's not an understatement. It has all of Hiroyuki Imaishi's signature immaturity, but any of his wit or social commentary has been sanded down flat. The story is harder to follow than a cheetah in the desert and the characters are a real Sophie's choice. It's glued together with surprisingly good yet unrefined animation the most fun you'll have with this show is looking at it right up until you're bombarded with the occasional nonsensical visual soup. This show feels like someone tried to disassemble FLCL, Dead Leaves, and Kill La Kill and build some sort of hulking irreverent Frankenstein's Monster with its parts. If by chance the score turns out to be similar to what The Pillows made for FLCL, probably only then it can be redeemed. The ending on the other hand is extremely easy on the ear. There is zero music in it after the brief opening part, it is pure unadulterated jarring, annoying white noise. That opening theme, no matter how you cut it, is garbage in terms of music. It sort of feels like if you took Bocchi the Rock and blended it with Tatami Galaxy, and then remixed all of it in a solution of typical trigger styled animation, this would be something akin to that. Cool sequences and clean cuts at times, but needs more polish. Here's to hoping it'll be positive, because this clearly has huge potential.ĭecent animation so far. Having said that, the Anime has a lot to reveal, and develop from here if it wants be great. However, for whatever you believe' sake, don't even contemplate about thinking that Otaku culture is simply an obsession with Anime and Manga. It is sort of an alternate Japan, a post apocalyptic Japan of some sort, where everything about Otaku culture is wiped clean by the SSC. If anything, one can say it is a patchwork of parts from FLCL, Shimoneta, Panty and Stocking and Kill la Kill, with a dash of Madoka Magica sprinkled over Everything is as advertised in the synopsis, and the characters are exactly as you think they are. It is very average and under developed at this point, but a lot can change between now and the end of this season.

Nor is it Shimoneta for Otakus of this generation, could be, again, not right now.

Just so you know, this is not the FLCL of this generation.
